Headline: Back & At It Today opening the lifts
Good Morning Wildcat Community –
Well that was an eventful last week of weather, and we are grateful to have seen our way to the other side. As you know looking out at your own backyard, the snowpack has definitely taken a hit in the last week, but we are still here and our teams are working their magic to keep the skiing and riding alive at Wildcat despite these weather challenges. Thanks to the work of the team ahead of this storm to lock in our snowpack, as well as working through the day yesterday to begin the rebuild process ahead of the deeper cold, we are pleased to share that we will be attempting to reopen our lifts today and are facing heavy ice buildup at the summit.  It will take us a few days to fully rebuild all of our snowmaking terrain, and we will continue to open terrain when possible. More on this below.
Weather wise, we can expect to see a clear and cold day as a blast of arctic air is helping to solidify the snow work that the team did last night. Temps will be brisk to start the day but with mostly sunny skies today we will see temps top out at 18 – 25 degrees across mountain elevations. Winds will continue to remain breezy making for some cooler than normal wind chills, but this too will improve as the sun comes up through the day.
We will be open today from 9am – 4pm with 3 lifts and 14 trails including the Quad, Snowcat, and Snowbelt lifts. Conditions will be machine groomed frozen granular and variable in spots, and you should expect some narrow spots on certain trails such as Middle Wildcat & Bobcat. The grooming team will continue to work their magic through the next couple days with the plan to bring Middle & Lower Lynx and Upper Catapult back online before the weekend. We are uncertain just yet about what can be done with Upper Lynx but the team will do some digging to see what they can do.
If you haven’t stopped in to grab your Wildcat logo gear at Wildcat Sports this season, now is the time as select apparel is now 30% as we go into latter part of our winter season. As always, Wildcat Pub specials are in full effect today with the always popular Warm Up Wednesday, where you get a draft and any Pub favorite for $25.00. The Pub will be the perfect place to warm up, soak up some sun, and recharge to head back out on the hill.
Looking forward to the weekend, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome the Mount Washington Valley Adaptive Sports program for a Wildcat ski day with this Saturday March 21st. This is a great opportunity for new and existing participants to develop their skills on Wildcat’s signature terrain, as well as for everyone to learn more about this important organization and how you can get involved as a doner or a volunteer!
While March hasn’t lived up to the hype so far, we are not down and out and still have plenty of good turns and strong vibes ahead of us! The snowpack really held up well against yesterday’s storm and we are feeling encouraged about some upcoming snowfall this weekend with our sights firmly set on April. A day on the slopes is still better than a day at home some come up and enjoy the view and the sun today! We’ll see you out there!
