Wildcat Weather Forecast

Headline: Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..
Good Morning Wildcat Community –
Today we will continue to navigate our spring warm up spell with a day of some light mixed precipitation that should continue to make for some soft skiing and riding on our snowmaking trails. I’d like to continue to thank everyone for your continued patience as we navigate this challenging weather, and send my gratitude to the team for working hard to keep our terrain alive. There will continue to be thin spots and narrow areas on some trails as we look to minimize large snow pushes until after we get through the next 24 – 36 hours. Below I will share our plans to rebuild terrain at the right time to maximize our weekend operation.
This morning we beat out our consistent inverted temperature trend and are seeing some cooler air start to mix in. Today will be an overcast day with a mix of wet precipitation, as temps are forecasted to stay relatively flat or slightly cooling for the day with highs of 31 – 35 degrees across mountain elevations. Winds are slated to increase throughout the day as our next weather system intensifies overnight. Winds are in a more favorable southerly direction, so we are hopeful that there will not be impacts to lift operations
We will be open today from 9am – 4pm with 3 lifts and 20 trails including the Wildcat Express, Snowcat, and Snowbelt lifts. Conditions will be machine groomed loose granular and variable in spots, but overall should be the perfect spring skiing day. At this point we are unable to reopen any natural trails as the snow has mostly rotted down to the base, but we are looking at the future forecast with some hope that we can get back on some of this terrain before the end of the season.
I wanted to start socializing our rebuild plan as we see cold weather returning through the day tomorrow and into Friday. At this point our plan will be to reduce operations on Friday to operate off the Bobcat & Snowcat lifts to allow our team to start moving large amounts of snow during the day on our upper mountain terrain where we have seen the biggest impact of this spell. We have reduced lift ticket pricing to reflect our changes to terrain availability and appreciate your patience as we make smart decisions to preserve our fragile snowpack.
Despite all this we are looking forward to a great weekend and rest of the month we have a ton of great events coming up such as hosting the 75th Wildcat Ski Team Sap Run on March 14th & 15th, one of the oldest ski races in the state, and a special Wildcat ski day with the Mount Washington Valley Adaptive Sports program on Saturday March 21st, where new and existing participants can develop their skills on Wildcat’s signature terrain. Finally, we are super excited for the return of the ever popular Spring Fling and Pond Skim on Saturday April 4th, so start planning your costumes and practice sitting in the back seat to make it across. You may even see myself attempting to part the seas and stay “dry”!
Please know that we are working very hard to make the right decisions to not only preserve the snow pack through this spring weather so we can stay open as late into the season as possible, but also keep you all skiing and riding on as much of the mountain as we can right now. Please stay tuned for further updates very soon, and I greatly appreciate your patience!
