Wildcat Weather Forecast
Saturday, March 7th – 7:10 AM
Headline: A day at the mountain is better than a day at home, no matter the weather!
Good Morning Wildcat Community –
Don’t let today’s weather deter you as a day at the mountain is still better than a day at home (in my opinion), as another weekend at Wildcat is upon us! We know March can be temperamental these days but honestly the skiing and riding should be great. Temps were able to dip below the freezing mark last night and into this morning allowing our grooming team to give the mountain a good refresh for the day. We are expecting a mixed bag of precipitation throughout the day that includes some ice and rain, so there is a potential for some lift impacts, but more on that below. The flipside to any potential icing will be warming temps that will assist in deicing efforts if needed, and the team is ready to roll with it today to provide the best experience possible.
Today’s weather will remain cloudy throughout with scattered mixed precipitation through mid morning that, then should remain mostly dry for the remainder of operations. Temperatures will be quickly on the rise going from upper 20’s this morning to a high of 45 – 50 degrees across mountain elevations. Another curve ball for today will be the potential for increasing winds as the warm front moves, but again we will be ready to adjust.
So for today’s lift operations, we are open from 8:30am – 4pm with 4 lifts, weather permitting, with an initial plan to run the Wildcat Express, Bobcat, Snowcat, and Snow Belt. Given for the potential for icing, detachable style lifts such as the Express can be challenged in these conditions while our remaining fixed grip lifts will be able to keep operating. First word from our Lift Maintenance team is that the Express is looking good to start the day, but conditions can change. The winds could be the double whammy for the Express or the Snowcat Lift, but have trust that our teams will do anything they can to safely operate our lifts to provide as much access as possible. As always, our teams are ready to shift to the Tomcat lift today, so please stay tuned to our Lift & Trail Status page, the My Epic App, or stop in at our Guest Services desk in the Main Lodge for the most up to date information.
The grooming team focused on resurfacing our core snowmaking terrain last night while also mixing in some of yesterday’s new snow, and you can expect packed powder/loose granular machine groomed conditions on 20 trails while our 21 natural trails will be packed powder/variable conditons.
If you haven’t stopped in to grab your Wildcat logo gear at Wildcat Sports this season, now is the time as select apparel is now 30% as we go into latter part of our winter season. Don’t forget our signature Wildcat Apres with live music today with Scott Baer playing tomorrow from 1pm – 4pm, as there is no place to take some breaks throughout the day than in the lodge listening to some great music.
Looking forward to the rest of the month we have a ton of great events coming up such as hosting the 75th Wildcat Ski Team Sap Run on March 14th & 15th, one of the oldest ski races in the state, and a special Wildcat ski day with the Mount Washington Valley Adaptive Sports program on Saturday March 21st, where new and existing participants can develop their skills on Wildcat’s signature terrain. Finally, we are super excited for the return of the ever popular Spring Fling and Pond Skim on Saturday April 4th, so start planning your costumes and practice sitting in the back seat to make it across. You may even see myself attempting to part the seas and stay “dry”!
There is still a lot of winter season ahead of us and this is the time of the year where it gets really good at Wildcat. Yes, we have some interesting weather ahead of us, but the mountain is looking great and we look forward to keeping us skiing and riding as long as possible this year. We really appreciate the great feedback we have been receiving from so many of you that have come to enjoy Wildcat, and hope to you see you all again real soon!

Recently our Patrol team was called to assist a couple groups of guests find their way out of side country terrain that is accessible from our trail network. These areas are beyond our resort boundary, for experts only, unmarked, and unpatrolled. If you are unfamiliar with this area it’s best to wait until we see a better snowpack and go with someone that has familiarity with this terrain. Thank you!
