Spring Has Sprung

Springtime at The ‘Cat!

Spring around here really is unlike any other time of year. When the weather is warm and the sun is shining, this mountain radiates a certain energy that can rarely be found anywhere else. If you’ve experienced this, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, I invite you to come share it with us.

It’s also the time of year where Wildcat shows its claws. Growing up, some of my favorite ski memories here were learning how to avoid rocks, grass patches, and other natural hazards that come along with spring skiing. Wildcat skiers get very familiar with having to jump over things and picking technical routes down the trails, which I think really helps shape their overall skiing and riding ability. There’s a reason some of the best on the East Coast hail from The ‘Cat! That also being said, we’ve been known to experience some serious powder days up here in the spring time. March and April can prove to be some of our snowiest months of the season! Anything can happen at this magical place…

Of course we can’t forget the joys of bump skiing in the corn. There’s nothing like exploding those moguls and spraying up snow everywhere! All while working on your goggle tan and rocking a t-shirt. Some of my favorite runs for this have to be Catenary and Panther. I could lap those all day when the weather gets warm and the snow goes through a few thaw-freeze cycles.

But not only all of this, it’s also time for fun events! We have Wildcat classics like the Cat Scratch Fever and the annual pond skim coming up. Make sure you stay tuned to our website and social media for a big announcement because we’re planning on taking these events to the next level this year! But these events are already so great. It’s fun to see the Wildcat community (shout out to Wildcat Nation!) come together and celebrate. Whether you participate, or you’re just there to watch, it’s always a good time for everyone involved. Including us working them! Check out our online calendar for the full line up of events and après entertainment.

It’s been a heck of a season up here at Wildcat but it’s still far from over. I like to refer to spring as Phase 2 of the ski season because it really is a whole new thing up here. So while other mountains are beginning to announce closing dates, we’re still thriving. You can have confidence in knowing that we’ll keep our lifts spinning until there’s literally no way to get down the mountain.

Spring skiing at The ‘Cat is a staple for all Wildcat skiers and riders. As I said, I was lucky enough to grow up with Wildcat as my home mountain. Many of the experiences I had and that stuck with me came from this time of year. I hope that you can come hang out and join us for the remainder of the season!

I’ll see you on the mountain!
