  Wildcat Mountain's Fifth 100K Day for Make-A-Wish Foundation®

Come on up to Wildcat and challenge yourself to the fifth annual 100K day scheduled for Monday, March 3rd. The challenge is to ski or ride 100,000 vertical feet in a single day! That's 48 runs up here, a long challenging day for a good cause. There will be prizes awarded for the top fundraisers and all proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. There will also be prizes for all participants who complete the entire 100K followed by a group photo of the new 100K club! Refreshments and snacks will be provided to help keep challengers going throughout the day. This event is limited to the first 40 people who register so be sure to sign up now. It is also required that competitors raise a minimum of $250 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. There will be a dinner, included in the registration fee, and awards ceremony immediately after the 100K challenge. Registration is only $35 for WILDCAT SEASON PASSHOLDERS and $65 for non-passholders. The event promises to be a blast so give us a call at 888-SKI-WILD x. 217 or sign up online, and don't forget your pledge sheets! All ages and disciplines are welcome!

  2008 EVENT

Twenty-five of the twenty-eight Wildcat skiers that took the challenge on Monday, March 3rd, achieved 100K in vertical making at least 48 runs on the Lynx Trail to raise $30,000 for The Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire®.

Chalie Tillett of Wayland, Massachusetts (pictured left) set the pace for fundraising, collecting more than $11,000. He attributes his method of contacting other skiers who would understand the physical challenge of skiing 100,000 vertical feet in one day, the skiing equivalent of a marathon, for his success.

More than $30,000 raised during the 5th Annual 100K Day on March 3, 2008.

100K DAY RULES, REGULATIONS AND SPORTSMANSHIP
This event is reliant upon good weather. The wind date is Monday, March 10th.

This is not a race, it is a challenge. There is a nine hour window to complete the 100K, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This equates to 11 minutes and 15 seconds per run. The lift can reach the summit in less than 7 minutes, which leaves almost 4.5 minutes to complete each run. This is plenty of time to ski down the mountain in a safe controlled manner, for the duration of the day, and reach the 100K mark. This is not an all day downhill type race and anyone deemed to be endangering themselves or others will be removed from the challenge at the discretion of our staff. Participants will be allowed to complete a maximum of 50 runs and will be required to stop for the day when that total is reached.

Registration. The registration fee is $65, or $35 for Wildcat Season Pass Holders. The field is limited to 40 contestants. The Registration table will open at 6:00 a.m. on the day of the challenge. All challengers will be given a bib, sign a waiver, and checked for a helmet.

Helmets are required for this event. If you do not have one, Wildcat will make every effort to provide you with one, but if none are available you will not be able to participate.

Lift Privileges. Entering the 100K challenge will provide you with a lift ticket for the day as well as a pass to the front of the line when you reach the bottom. This will help participants maximize their time spent on the hill going for the 100K.

Course. The course for this event will be Wildcat's legendary Lynx trail. It takes a rather direct route down the mountain and covers 2,112 vertical feet. It will be closed to the general public at all points of entry, so only challengers will be on the trail.

Follow the Code. You are responsible for knowing and adhering to the skiers responsibility code. Challengers deemed to be skiing in a reckless manner will be removed from the challenge.

Volunteers. We do need help staffing this event. Anyone who volunteers for this event will receive 2 complimentary vouchers good any day for the rest of the season. To volunteer for this event, please contact Thomas Prindle at 603-466-3326 x. 216.

Fund Raising. The top prizes will be awarded to the challengers who raise the most money for Make-A-Wish®. Click here to download your pledge sheet, or pick one up at the base lodge. You must have collected a minimum of $250 in pledges by race day in order to enter.

Dinner/Awards. After the Challenge is over all challengers and volunteers are invited to the awards party dinner. There will be a nice pasta dinner, cash bar, and tons of prizes. We'll also take a photo of the new 100K club! See you there.

If you or your organization is interested in helping out, please e-mail Thomas.
